President, Asa Hardcastle

A deep appreciation for food, the land, and passionate expression shapes Asa's involvement in his community. He is a member of Indian Line Farm and the Berkshire Co-Op, and helped to start 97.7 FM WBCR-LP, a community radio station in Great Barrington.

Professionally, Asa has been developing web-based applications that deliver media and business process solutions since 1997. He is a partner and CTO of Zenn New Media, a software company that operates on the premise of the convergence of beauty and function. He is also the Technical Lead of the openLiberty Wakame Project, an open source identity web services library. This experience has brought him deeply into the identity and privacy issues that face every user of the Internet.

Asa grew up on a family dairy farm in New Marlborough and worked landscape jobs throughout high school and college, planting trees and digging gardens. He graduated summa cum laude from Emory University with a double major in computer science and English. After college, he returned to Berkshire County, where he is now raising two rambunctious boys.
