Lenox National Bank Joins Berkshares Program
A gracious historic building at the heart of Lenox is the home of Lenox
National Bank. Walking distance from many of Lenox's fine shops, a short
drive up the hill into town from Tanglewood, the bank has served the Lenox
community since the 1800's.
On Tuesday, September 4, 2007, the bank began trade in BerkShares, the
region's own currency. Residents of the area and tourists to the area can
bring federal dollars to the bank and exchange them for the well designed
BerkShare notes, featuring images of local heroes and paintings of local
artists.
Using BerkShares represents pride in the Berkshire community and commitment
to support the small businesses that are the strength of the Berkshire
economy. Citizens with BerkShares in their wallets can spend them at the
following Lenox locations:
A Touching Experience, Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork
Berkshire Cheese Makers
Berkshire Classic Leather and Silver
Cheesecake Charlie’s
Chiropractic Works
Chocolate Springs
Clearwater Natural Foods
Devries Fine Art
Drygoods
Eileen Rosenthal, Graphic Design

Thanks to Joe Leskovitz of Lenox National Bank and Ralph Petillo of Lenox
Chamber of Commerce. Their enthusiasm for the program and work in arranging
all the details of implementation has meant that Lenox residents and
businesses now have a convenient location for their BerkShare trade.
Best wishes,
BerkShares Team
