Alexey Veselovskiy, the New York City Correspondent for NTV Russia, reports
that the broadcast was well received. He knows of four different Russian
newspapers that picked up the story based on the TV coverage.

Our friends at Orion Society reported that this month’s “Ecologist” also has
a short mention of BerkShares. News of the local community that is using a
local currency to strengthen its regional economy is spreading nationally
and internationally.

Zenn New Media is capturing the videos of TV coverage to view directly from

INTRODUCTION

We are delighted to say that Laura Fetherolf has joined the BerkShares Team.
Many of you may know Laura from attending the Chamber’s Business After Hours
Program. Laura holds both a realtor and contractor’s license and has a
business furnishing model homes and vaction rentals. She and her husband
live in Lenox.

Laura will be talking to businesses about signing up to accept BerkShares.
If you have suggestions for new businesses you would like to see in the
BerkShares program, please send contact information in a return email with
“Attention Laura” in the subject line.

Our goal is to increase ways for existing businesses to recirculate their
BerkShares business to business. Please also remember that you can sign up
new businesses yourself through the Sign Up page on the BerkShares website.

SPECIALS

Berkshire Bank has started an exciting new program. Every time someone
opens a new account with the bank, they will be given 75 BerkShares to spend
in the local community. And if they bring in a friend to open an account,
they will be given an additional 25 BerkShares.

The program was designed as part of BerkShares outreach to the second home
community. BerkShares in hand are a wonderful incentive to get to know your

Whenever anyone exchanges federal dollars for BerkShares at any of the
