Dear Friends,
Spring is well under way, and what better time to get out and connect face
to face with new BerkShares businesses. When driving through North Egremont
you could stop by seven-year-old Hunter’s Lemonade Stand for a refreshing
drink and at the same time support a pert young BerkShares entrepreneur.
The stand and its proprietor with basket and flowers and fresh made sign are
pictured on the front page of the BerkShares website.
Hard-working Hunter Harvey Montano earned 21 BerkShares and 41 federal
dollars on her first day of operations. She has decided to donate all her
profits this season to area non-profits, as a way of giving back to her
community. First up: Animal D.R.E.A.M.S., the organization that helped two
kittens find a home with Hunter and her family.
Look out for other new BerkShares businesses listed in the new BerkShares
Pocket Directory, fresh off the press, and now available at participating
banks. If you would like pocket directories available for your customers,
please let us know by return email, and we will drop off or mail a bundle.
There are over 300 businesses listed in the directory. Many others accept
BerkShares when asked. All of this means creative opportunities for you to
re-circulate BerkShares and actively support our Berkshire economy. A more
self-reliant local economy means a more sustainable future for our
community.
Best wishes,
The BerkShares Team
