Community of Services June 8, 2009 Dear BerkShares Businesses, BerkShares is asking for your participation! You’re invited to attend and participate in a tasty fundraiser on Saturday, August 22nd at Crissey Farm in Great Barrington. This won’t be just any ordinary fundraiser. This event will include a beer, wine and spirit tasting (with lots of local offerings), along with a silent “service” auction and we’re here in your inbox looking for services and unique experiences you might be able to donate or suggest. We’re auctioning experiences (the more unique the better), services and things that can be conveyed by a gift certificate. No actual items will be included. Examples of experiences (to get your creative juices flowing): A tour of a local farm with an opportunity to learn to milk a cow, goat or sheep; a visit to a local cheese-making facility to see how it’s done – the bidder walks away from the experience with samples; a tour of Excelsior Printing where BerkShares are printed; a guided herb or mushroom walk on your property; spend time learning how to make candles … or how to roast coffee … or how to make chocolate, etc. Got the idea? Examples of services: Doctors, dentists, acupuncturists, dog training; personal training; physical therapy; spa services; gardening instruction; cleaning services; tree and/or stump removal; window or door installation by a contractor; etc. Examples of things conveyed by certificate: a load of seasoned, split firewood; septic tank cleaning; load of screened topsoil; etc. So! If you, or someone you know, have anything to offer please let us know and we’ll sign you up! The idea is to make this BerkShares auction the best in the Berkshires! Once you’ve made your decision, be SURE to mark your calendar and plan to attend the BerkShares tasting and auction on Saturday, August 22nd from 7 to 9:30 pm. There will be lots of tasty hors d’oeuvres for you to enjoy while you’re having fun bidding on some of the most unique items you’ll find anywhere, thanks to all of you! Questions?
